 TELECOMMUNICATION AND ITS ELEMENTS

To send information from one place to another place using electronic device is called telecommunication

OR

Telecommunication / data Communication is a process of transferring data electronically from one place to another.

Elements of data Communication:

There are three basic element of data-communication

1) Sender 2) Receiver 3) Channel

COMMUNICATION NETWORK MODEL
Communication network is any arrangement where a sender transmits a message to a receiver over a channel (medium).
It consists of five components:

1-Terminals:-

Any input/output device that uses telecommunication networks to transmit or receive data is called terminal. For example telephone, networked microcomputer workstations.

2-Telecommunication processor (“TP"):-

The device which perform variety control and support functions which support data transmission and reception between terminals and computers in telecommunication network network For example they convert data from digital to analog and back, code and decode data, and control the accuracy and efficiency of the communications flow between computers and terminals in a telecommunications network. For example Modem Card, Hub, Bridge, router etc.

3-Telmommunications channels and media:-

The media/channel over which data are transmitted and received. Telecommunication channels/media/medium is copper wires, coaxial cables, fiber optic cables, microwave systems, and telecommunications satellites, to interconnect the other components of telecommunications network.

4-Computers:-

Computers of all sizes and types are interconnected by telecommunication networks. For example, mainframe, mini, and microcomputers.

5-Telecommunications control software:-

These are programs that control telecommunications activities and manage and communications packages. the functions of telecommunication networks. For examples telecommunications monitors, network operating systems.
